PRACTICE WRITING ON SONNET 65 (Completion grade BUT NOT optional): Focusing on the first two quatrains, and moving sequentially from the 1st quatrain to the 2nd, discuss how Shakespeare uses contrasting images and figurative devices for beauty and time to develop the sonnet’s main theme; a good discussion will include how those devices contribute to the sonnet’s tone as well. Be sure to cover figurative language and imagery, but feel free to include other devices as well. One full, double-spaced page (1 paragraph per quatrain), should be enough.
